INTUITION. MARTA LUMA, Aleksandra Modrzejewska, 2023

passe-partout, museum glass, oak frame
27 x 21 cm - 41 x 33 cm
“The image of a particular moment bathed in a light that is solely its own. Picture silence and concentration as you follow the crayon across your face with your eyes closed. The movement seems slowed down, even meditative. I am fascinated by the moment of visualising intuition.”
From correspondence with Isabella Czarnowska, art historian and contemporary art dealer
The photograph Intuition is an attempt to capture the pure moment of entering a state of inner freedom, to which the Artist gives material expression, this time on the metaphorical canvas of her own face. It is a moment of extracting and describing the vibrations of personal feelings, outlined in deep black crayon, with a slow movement of the hand gliding across the cheek.
The irregular line is a record of a personal experience freed from external and internal influences, concerns and judgements. A record that is profoundly true and that poignantly captures the depth of human vulnerability.
It is a state that is the result of courage and believing in one’s own self and intuition, allowing one to break through layers, fear and the burden of judgement. Rejecting them leads to a feeling of freedom, which in turn leads to following the truth of one’s own soul.
The photograph is also the result of the entering into the silence of the relationship between the Photographer Aleksandra Modrzejewska and Marta Luma.
